Too Tired Thursday

Mom and PlusOne went to see Ovo last night, the new Cirque Du Soleil. They said it was awesome. PlusOne fell asleep in the car on the way home. Mom crashed right away as well. I am sure I will hear more when they are conscious.

Tattle Tale Tuesday

Mom's student gave her these beautiful roses and a wonderful "Thank You" card for helping her through the years at karate. She will be getting her black belt on August 4th. Mom has taught her since she was a white belt. She didn't want mom to read the card in front of her because she didn't want to cry. Mom didn't want to cry either. (But she did!)

And this is what mom did to make certain I didn't get at the roses.

The were still there when she came home. (I don't think I want to risk my current standing by trying to eat these!)

Memere Comes Home Today & A Wedding

Yesterday mom and the family had a great time celebrating Memere & Auntie's birthday at the hospital. (We're not allowed at the hospital, which is stupid, because everyone knows you heal better with pug love, but I digress.) Auntie made her famous red velvet cupcakes and Memere even got dressed. (Who came blame her for not wanting to celebrate with friends in her nightgown.)

Memere is supposed to come home today, but Mom, Dad and PlusOne won't be there because mom's best friend, Blondie, is getting married today. Mom and Blondie have been friends for 30 years. Can you imagine that? They met at freshman orientation in college.

Anyway, Blondie met a wonderful man who absolutely adores her (hence mom loves him to pieces) and today they are getting married. So there will be lots of celebrating (without pugs, sigh) but I'm going to forgive everyone. What with all the excitement this week, mom and dad have forgotten about the cookie jar and I am to keep it that way.

Emergency Chocolate & Memere's Birthday

Dad bought this for mom. Mom thinks it's a screech. There was talk that Memere would come home yesterday, but then they discover another, larger clot in her other lung. She's staying in the hospital, but she's out of the Critical Intensive Care Unit. Everyone's going to the hospital at 2:00 pm today to celebrate her and Auntie's birthdays. (Auntie was Wednesday, Memere's is today). Auntie is making red velvet cupcakes. Lucky and I are trying to give lots of Pug Love to everyone. It seems to be working. Everyone is staying positive. :)

Memere Is Doing Well

Memere is sad because she doesn't have any pug love in the hospital. Or Missy love, for that matter. But she is doing well. She is on medication and hosting lots of visitors. Memere will get out of the hospital either Saturday or Sunday. We are sure that she will heal a lot faster at home (with lots of Missy and pug love.) Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers. It means a lot to us.

I Need Your Help

I need some prayers for Memere, please. Memere is in the hospital with a pulmonary embolism in her lung.


She went to the hospital last Wednesday night with a severe inner ear infection (such severe vertigo that the ambulance attendants had to carry her to the ambulance). She was feeling better except feeling very weak in her legs (no blood was getting to them). She went in for a check up yesterday and they called back after dinner and told her to go to the hospital. The good news is that they know what it is and she is in the best place possible for treatment. The bad news is she's in the hospital and may be there for a few days.

If you wouldn't mind saying some prayers for my memere, I would really appreciate it. Thank you!

My Mother Is Selfish

Did I get any of this pie? Blackberry, boysenberry, whatever berry! Did I get any?

NO! And judging by the noises mom and Mr. Karate were making it was really good.

Did I get any of the ice cream? NO! The pie was still warm and the ice cream was melting on it.


Did I get any of the green beans out of mom's garden? NO! She didn't give me one!

My mother is selfish, selfish, selfish. I think I will have to leave her a "gift" tomorrow for not sharing. What do you think?

TattleTale Tuesday

Lucky here. The TattleTale story I am going to share with you today is about my sister, Roxy, and how she is living up to her name as The Devil Dog. Last week Mr. Karate went out to eat and had ribs. He brought leftovers home and FORGOT them. (Can you believe it? What a crime.) Anyway, mom threw them out. Now, the garbage is on the back porch, separated by a barricade. My darling sister knocked over the night stand (filled with books) holding the barricade up and proceeded to demolish the garbage AND the leftover ribs. Can you believe it?

Well, of course you can. She's a Devil Dog.

Check out mom's first sunflower to bloom. I think it may be as tall as she is. It's certainly a lot taller than me!

Tattle Tale Tuesday - My Mother Is Insane

This is what the trim on the side of the house looked like on Thursday.

All done. Even the side you can't see to the right.

The punch line is IT WAS 99 degrees yesterday. Mom actually worked on this entire side of the house all day yesterday in the horrible heat. She is INSANE, I tell you, INSANE.

Actually, she started at 8:30 and stopped at noon. She cut and painted some of the trim around 1:00 pm, decided that it was too hot to climb the ladder so she went and painted the bathroom window trim (which was in the shade).

After that she jumped in the neighbor's pool (fabulous neighbors BTW) and started up again around 4:00 pm. Ate dinner and went back out at 8:00 pm and finished it up.

Now, there is supposed to be decorative trim going from the roof line down to a point 3/4 down the trim, but at $2.85/liner foot, it will be a week or two before mom gets it. That side is about 20 something feet long and the two short sides are about 9 feet long.

Lucky and I were smart and stayed in the air conditioned living room. Mom is going to work tomorrow. I hope she takes it easy there, but I am not going to hold my breath.

No PlusOne

Mom and Dad dropped PlusOne off at Camp Leslie yesterday. He liked it so much last year he wanted to go back this year. Then mom and dad went to a cookout. While we stayed home, alone! We will forgive mom, though, because she is home today, doing work on the trim and eaves. I don't expect her to be outside all day though, as we are heading into a heat wave.

On the couch with mom in the air conditioned living room, this is the life!

Beautiful Day


Mom had half a day of work yesterday and she started working on the trim in the backyard. Lucky and I really enjoyed the sunshine. It wasn't too hot to sit out. Today is supposed to be the same. I hope mom does more outdoor work.

Finally Friday


It was 74 degrees and 37% humidity yesterday. It was a great day. It went down to 50 degrees last night. I LOVED it! It won't last, though, this is New England. And they say the next heat wave is around the corner. Oh well, we've got blankets and air conditioners, so I'm ready for anything.

And Pepere too! Missy has gone home with them and Lucky and I have the house to ourselves! Missy is feeling a whole lot better, thank you everyone for your pug snorts and prayers for her. She even growled at me yesterday, that's how mom knew she was feeling better.

But she's gone now. She's back with her parents and I bet she'll be eating up a storm in no time.
